Finally, Finally, Finally the Main Bathroom Reveal!

Finally, Finally, Finally the Main Bathroom Reveal!

Boy, oh boy, has this post been long overdue. I’ve been itching to share final reveal shots of the the main bathroom at Berrybrier. If you follow me on instagram (see the sidebar! Or the very bottom of the page if you’re on your phone) you may have seen my instastories a few weeks ago which heavily featured finishing off the bathroom. There were a few little tasks like hanging the hand towel ring, spray painting the toilet paper stand, and making the shower curtain that I needed motivation to work on. So thanks to all those who messaged me for the encouragement! Now… shall we check out some shots of the room?

How My Living Room Has Evolved

How My Living Room Has Evolved

Lately, I’ve been working on whipping my living room into better shape and I’ve excited to chat about the evolution of this space! I recently hemmed and re-hung my favorite, budget friendly curtains and got a new rug. But before we get too far into that, let’s talk about where this space started!

This is one of the first shots I snapped of the Living Room at Berrybrier when I first bought the house back in August 2017! It was the space that really sold me on the house, can you believe that? It was a decent sized space and felt so open. I knew the wide cased opening to the Dining Room would be great for entertaining.

Celebrating 2 Years at Berrybrier!

Celebrating 2 Years at Berrybrier!

This past weekend (August 17th to be exact!) was my second year at Berrybrier! I cannot believe how time has flown and how much things have changed around here. I’ve been so busy renovating this house for so long, that when things were mostly finished, I took a two and a half month solo road trip across the US and back. It was a much needed break from the breakneck DIY projects and general pace of life. I’ve struggled a bit to get back into my regular blog schedule since my return, but I’m trying to get more focused. Today, though, I just want to take a look at where things started and see where things are now!

How to Hem Curtains and Why It’s Better Than Iron-On Tape

How to Hem Curtains and Why It’s Better Than Iron-On Tape

You may have recently seen in my Instastories, I’ve been trying to wrap up a lot of half-completed projects around the house. One of those projects was finally, finally hemming my living room curtains!

My absolute favorite budget curtains are the IKEA Ritva curtains. They’re 100% cotton — a natural fiber — which makes me happy and they have a great subtle weave to them. The best part? For 118″ long curtains it’s only $39 for a pair! So many curtains are sold as single panels for over $100, so this deal feels amazing.

Here’s Some Wine: A.K.A. Painting The Dining Room

Here’s Some Wine: A.K.A. Painting The Dining Room

So painting is a pretty quick and easy thing to do to completely transform a room! My Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Mike (the famous duo who painted the walls and ceiling in the stairwell!) came up to visit in April 2018 and asked if I needed help with any projects while they visited. Since they’d already proved their prepping and painting skills, I asked them to work on the Dining Room, which had only recently stopped functioning as the kitchen during the house renovations.

“Whitewashing” A Stone Fireplace with Grey Paint

“Whitewashing” A Stone Fireplace with Grey Paint

When I first moved into Berrybrier I knew something would need to change on the Living Room fireplace. It was a stacked stone fireplace and clearly added onto the house in the 60s or 70s. The center was slightly blackened with soot and the stones were wildly different color tones, varying from yellow to red to brown. I did not like it at all and it felt like a jarring mid-century accent in the midst of the turn of the century house.

How to Style Bookcases

How to Style Bookcases

I want more bookcases. Actually, I need them. My bookshelves are completely overflowing and don’t look great. I’m desperate for something that will allow me to get my books neatly single stacked on the shelves. You see, I love to read. I need to read more. I used to read a book a week. Now, there’s this thing called the internet that sucks me in and steals all my free time. I want to get away from that and dive back into my one true love: literature.

One Room Challenge: Week 6 – Final Master Bathroom Reveal

One Room Challenge: Week 6 – Final Master Bathroom Reveal

It’s done — whoopee!! — get ready for the reveal!!! Welcome back to the One Room Challenge: Berrybrier Master Bathroom Edition. I finally have a place to get ready that doesn’t make me concerned for my personal health and it looks so good! First, let’s remind you where we all started here.

The Master Bathroom at Berrybrier is — like most Master Bathrooms — right off the Master Bedroom. It’s an awesome addition that is so great to have, even if it is only a half bathroom. When I bought the house, it was right there, peeking out into the periwinkle and red Master Bedroom.
