And Sometimes I Get Decision Fatigue…

And Sometimes I Get Decision Fatigue…

Renovating all of Berrybrier has been an exhilarating, exhausting, exciting, and at times, excruciating process. To say it’s been wild, would be an understatement. I’ve loved it and I’ve hated it, but mostly I’ve loved it. So many people thought I was crazy when I bought this house. Looking back at the before pictures, I realize I was crazy! Maybe I still am? I wouldn’t trade this experience though. I’ve learned so much and gained so much confidence in my own design and DIY skills. I’ve had so much help with Berrybrier thanks to my giant family who’ve all contributed in so many ways. One thing I’ve done alone though? Bought the house and made all the decisions. And there have been a lot of decisions.

Secrets About Interior Designers

Secrets About Interior Designers

Being an interior designer is one of the most entertaining jobs! We get to use the creative part of our brain and the hyper-organized part of our brain every day to make spaces work harder and smarter. We get to see the physical impact of our work come to life in front of our eyes and that is just too fun! It’s a great position for anyone who is particularly tactile, since we play with texture and feel all day every day. Want to know some more secrets about interior designers? As a full time, professional interior designer, I thought I’d dish!

Resource Portland Event with Kush Rugs

Resource Portland Event with Kush Rugs

I had the pleasure last week to attend Kush Rugs‘ Resource Portland event. The team at Kush invited me to join a number of designers from mainly outside of Portland as they toured and met with a number of Portland, Oregon based product design companies. It was an amazing day filled with so many wonderful people! I learned so much about the various companies Kush chose to feature and today I’m going to share the highlights of the day with you!

What is Your Design Style?

What is Your Design Style?

I thought I’d round up a post today full of images of different design styles or aesthetics. Sometimes people have a mix of styles in their homes, sometimes they lean one way in one house and another in the next house, sometimes people have a very specific look they love. So often I hear from friends and family that they really like X-style or their home is X-style and then I visit and what I see is really Y-style. It can be hard to define your personal style! Especially because design styles can change and evolve as you age, go in an out of popular vogue, or be dependent on the house you’re living in!

What to Do During a Long Weekend in New Orleans

What to Do During a Long Weekend in New Orleans

At the beginning of February I met up with two of my best friends in New Orleans, LA to celebrate 17 years of friendship. While the trip didn’t fall on our anniversary (you better believe we have one!), we wanted to make it a celebration of our relationship and strove to create an awesome long weekend of fun, friends, and so much food! Spoiler alert: we were successful! The three of us are scattered in different cities around the United States now (Portland, OR; San Francisco, CA; and Philadelphia, PA) and we picked New Orleans since it was kinda-sorta in the middle.

Potager Plans and Garden Inspiration

Potager Plans and Garden Inspiration

It’s starting to inch closer to Spring here in Portland, OR. And by Spring I mean, it’s March but the weather is still 27° in the mornings and it’s supposed to snow next week, but hey, who cares right? ME. I care! It’s FREEZING and I am over it. I am ready for warm weather and sunshine and sitting in my backyard enjoying the heat. So I’ve begun daydreaming and planning and pinning my backyard renovation. It’s a long ways to completion since demo and rebuilding of the garage is not on the docket until next summer, but I do want to get quite a few other things done out here this year.

2019: Here We Go!

2019: Here We Go!

Right after I moved into Berrybrier I made a list of a ton of things I wanted to accomplish here! Now a ton of it has been completed and I’m really looking forward to sharing more and more of this with you as the weeks go by. I’m making a commitment to start posting weekly on Tuesdays at 10am and am hoping to catch you up to the latest happenings here at Berrybrier! I will occasionally be posting little posts like this on other days and will take weeks off for the occasional holiday or when I’m totally swamped. But truly, I’m trying to hold myself to posting every Tuesday!
