Building DIY Stone Steps and Other Garden Progress – week 4

Building DIY Stone Steps and Other Garden Progress – week 4

This was another week of doing a little bit of this and that in the garden. It’s funny working on a bunch of things at once because it feels like small accomplishments, but when I look at the end results I’m impressed with the progress! The upcoming weeks before the One Room Challenge comes to a close are going to be more specific. I’m going to get the electrical set up this coming week for the new landscape lighting and work on my new front steps too. Those aren’t small tasks at all! They will be super time consuming and both are project I haven’t done before. I’m nervous and excited.

I put a poll on instagram this week asking if anyone could guess what project I was working on. No one guessed correctly! But the mystery project is now revealed: I build stone steps to mitigate the elevation change from the sidewalk to the ground level of the house! I will still be building the wood stairs that lead down from the porch to the ground, but this was the first step in creating the new entrance to my home and I am so excited!

And Sometimes I Get Decision Fatigue…

Renovating all of Berrybrier has been an exhilarating, exhausting, exciting, and at times, excruciating process. To say it’s been wild, would be an understatement. I’ve loved it and I’ve hated it, but mostly I’ve loved it. So many people thought I was crazy when I bought this house. Looking back at the before pictures, I realize I was crazy! Maybe I still am? I wouldn’t trade this experience though. I’ve learned so much and gained so much confidence in my own design and DIY skills. I’ve had so much help with Berrybrier thanks to my giant family who’ve all contributed in so many ways. One thing I’ve done alone though? Bought the house and made all the decisions. And there have been a lot of decisions.

One Room Challenge – Week 4 DIY Skim-coated Concrete Counters

Oh boy, want to know what’s so much better looking than 45 year old yellow patterned laminate counters? Pretty much anything. Yup. Also, my new DIY skimcoated counters. Those are also pretty amazing. Sewing a Tapestry into a Custom Shower Curtain (And Some Awesome Floral Shower Curtain Finds!)

Sewing a Tapestry into a Custom Shower Curtain (And Some Awesome Floral Shower Curtain Finds!)

I wanted something really special for the shower curtain in the Main Bathroom at Berrybrier. I hoped for something that would make a bold and colorful statement and as I was hunting for inspiration for the whole bathroom, I kept falling in love with bold, oversized florals. They made an appearance in a lot of wallpapered spaces — and we all know how much I adore wallpaper! Just look at this bathroom below. Stunning! It’s the perfect mix of Victorian and modern. I am obsessed!
